Frequently asked questions.

Where do I find your bread?

See the Where to Find Us page for information about our retail location hours and farmers market locations.

Can I freeze your bread?

Absolutely! All of our bread freezes well. When freezing we suggest freezing the bread sliced, from there you can pull it out and put it right into the toaster (you’ll might need to toast it more than once though).

If you want to freeze the whole loaf we suggest wrapping it in plastic wrap. This keeps the wrap right up against the surface of the loaf and will reduce the chance of freezer burn. When you’re ready to eat the bread just unwrap it and place in a 325°F oven right on the rack. Our regular sized loaves will take around 25 minutes to fully thaw, the larger loaves like Country and Milk bread may take a bit longer. If you want to be extra sure insert a probe thermometer into the center of the bread. If it hit room temperature the loaf is thawed out. Remove the loaf and allow it to cool fully back to room temperature before slicing.

How do you recommend I store bread?

We sell our artisan breads in paper bags, which is the ideal storage after baking while moisture is still equalizing in the loaf, this moisture distribution will actually drastically change how the loaf tastes and feels over the first 24 hours or so.

The paper bag will be a great place to store bread for the first couple of days. If you find that the crust is becoming harder to slice, or crunchy rather than crispy, you can refresh it in the oven after spraying the outside with water, or store it in a plastic bag instead. In a plastic bag your crust will be more chewy than crispy. Stored in a plastic bag sourdough breads should be good for around a week. Your mileage may vary though depending on the time of year, and your home temperature and humidity.

Some of our softer breads, like milk bread, are sold and best stored in plastic bags.

If you’re going to be eating the bread more slowly over time we very much recommend freezing the bread sliced.

Do you sell your loaves sliced?

We suggest you don’t slice the loaf all at once. Exposing more of the interior of the loaf will greatly increase the staling rate, and increase risk of mold developing earlier (more surface area unprotected by crust). We do have a slicer at the store though and will slice it for your convenience. If you get the loaf sliced we strongly recommend storing it in a plastic bag and enjoying it quickly (or freezing it!) We only have the one slicer at the bakery, so if you have allergies to nuts, seeds, milk, or eggs we strongly suggest you slice your bread at home.

When will my favorite special bake be back?

Great question! With our opening of our retail location we’re hoping to have your favorites around more often. Every Monday (usually) we post the specials board on our Instagram and Facebook pages. There are themes to what breads show up on which days but until Monday the schedule isn’t fully locked in.
